The surgical resection of cerebral cortex is often limited by neighboring regions of essential functional cortex. There is a high degree of individual variability with respect to cortical topography and functional localization [Ojemann, 1989]. The OCS-1 is intended for intraoperative cortical stimulation mapping to aid in cortical resections in the vicinity of essential cortex.
