During recent years, cryosurgery has gained rapid recognition in various surgical specialties. The tissue destruction by freezing will not replace conventional surgery or advanced electrosurgery, but uniquely supplements it.
The ELMED cryosurgical equipment employs compressed nitrous oxide (N2O) or carbon dioxide (CO2) as a cooling agent. It incorporates the Joule-Thompson principle. The highly compressed gas in the bottle expands in the tip of the cryo probe, and by so doing, creates temperatures up to -80°C.
