Hermes Medical Solutions (Nuclear Diagnostics AB) was established in Stockholm, Sweden in 1976 by Jan Bertling (Founder, CEO & President). In the same year, the company was the first to develop SPECT reconstruction software together with Dr. Stig Larsson, from Karolinska Hospital, Stockholm, Sweden and the first to develop dual head whole body scanning collaboratively with Dr. Karl-Johan Vikterlöf of Örebro, Sweden. The method developed by Dr. Larsson and Nuclear Diagnostics became an industry standard for single photon tomography, and Nuclear Diagnostics sold the first commercial tomographic software package, SPETS ITM, in 1978. Nuclear Diagnostics became the major supplier of software for the Gamma-11 system and supplied major nuclear medicine companies with software worldwide
