Autologous platelet gel has an extensive base of experience and knowledge in the use of autologous platelet gel. When concentrated autologous platelets are mixed with calcified thrombin a series of structural and functional changes involved in coagulation take place. Secreted from the platelets are a number of factors including serotonin, fibronectin, adenosine diphosphate, thromboxane A, platelet factor 4, platelet derived growth factor and platelet activating factor. Release of these factors cause a chemotactic response and initiates the process of migration between the endothelial cells.

What distinguishes SYMPHONY™ II is its exquisite consistency in capturing a high concentration of growth factors from just a small sample of a patient's whole blood and its unique method of protecting and preserving the functional viability of the growth factors contained in the platelets. These concentrated growth factors can be mixed with bone graft materials to enhance graft bioactivity.
